Using this site
Accessibility
This site is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, at large text sizes, and on a small screen.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. That is a target we build and test against, not a certification. The site has not been independently audited.
What is in place
- A skip link, page landmarks, and headings in a sensible order.
- Navigation that is always visible rather than hidden behind a menu button, and works entirely from the keyboard with a clear focus outline.
- Text and background colours checked for contrast.
- Layouts that reflow down to narrow screens and stay usable at 200% zoom.
- Tap targets sized for fingers, not cursors.
- Forms with real labels, and errors that are announced rather than only shown in colour.
- Animation kept to a minimum, and switched off entirely if your device is set to reduce motion. Nothing moves on its own, and nothing plays automatically.
- All content readable without JavaScript.
Known limitations
The prayer timetable, the announcements and the donation campaigns are supplied by other organisations and displayed inside frames. We control the heading, spacing and fallback link around each one, but not what is inside it, so we cannot guarantee their accessibility. Every one of them has a plain link beside it that opens the same information on the provider's own site, and the centre's phone number reaches a person who can read anything out to you.
If something does not work for you
Please tell us. It helps, and we would rather know. Call(647) 350-4262 during office hours or email info@torontoislamiccentre.com, and say which page and what happened.
